So, as I now officially has a whump blog, I thought I’m gonna follow you guys’ foot steps and introduce myself.

I’m Lizzy (which is my preferred pseudonym since, like, 12-13 years ago because one of my characters from my earliest fic is named Leslie). I’m in my mid 20s (shout out to 90s kids out there, let’s feel ancient together lol).

My pronoun is whatever you like. I don’t mind incorrect pronouns tbh because I’m more concerned with internet safety, and I’d rather have my real life identity concealed, even my gender (although I won’t recommend doing that to other people, especially the ones who have their pronouns posted on the description).

for those who missed the starter post i made, to summarize: all these links lead to individual polls with various answers relating to the topic of kidnapping. all you have to do is recreate your favorite scenario by going down the list and voting in each one, and at the end of the seven days, i will go back and see what all the winning answers are and make a grand finale post summarizing what Whump Tumblr's Ideal Kidnapped Whumpee looks like (based on the popular vote of a poll game, if you don't vibe with it that is totally fair and cool <3)

without further ado, let's figure out what our favorite flavor of kidnapped whumpee is >:3

  1. does the whumpee attempt to fight off their kidnappers before the inevitable takes place?
  2. is the whumpee capable of escaping the situation themself?
  3. what is their emotional state during their predicament?
  4. is there more than one kidnapper responsible?
  5. are they the only one kidnapped, or are others with them?
  6. how involved is the kidnapper after the initial kidnapping?
  7. do they have friends/a family that are/is informed of the situation, or do those people need to figure out whumpee is in trouble themselves?
  8. do they have friends/a family that are/is willing to rescue them?
  9. are they eventually rescued?
  10. if they do get rescued, how do they react to it?
  11. what is the aftermath of the kidnapping if it ever ends?
  12. how much comfort is involved in said aftermath?

i tried to cover as many corners surrounding the idea of a kidnapping plotline as i could, but if you think i left something out, feel free to let me know in the comments of this post and i'll add a little section to the end of the finale post that is similar to little extra notes people add at the end of large surveys :)

Whumptober Prompt Voting

Hi friends, this year we’re opening up a ‘Prompt Vote’ in which we’d like to hear what tropes the community would like to see this Whumptober.

Within the form there’s a list of over 200 tropes, and you can vote for as many or as few as you’d like. This is to give us an idea of different tropes' popularity in order to produce a prompt list catered to the community.

Did we miss a trope? Don’t worry! There’s an ‘honourable mentions’ at the bottom where you can include any tropes you would like to be included.

Please Note: For brevity, some tropes have been listed under an umbrella term - otherwise this list would be over 260 items long! Just sos you knows, AO3 is down under a DDOS attack right now. They’ve been coming back in little blips and then disappearing again. It’s been several hours. (For reference, it’s currently 3 p.m. eastern, July 10, 2023.)

The culprit (as with a few other DDOS attacks recently) is Anonymous Sudan, a group that is likely Russian, not Sudanese. The ‘reason’ they gave–that AO3 is “full of disgusting smuts and other LGBTQ+ and NSFW things,” is thin and probably not completely legit, though still legitimately concerning.

DDOS protection is expensive especially for a high traffic site like ao3. And it’s uniquely vulnerable as an independent site without ads or other corporate support. SPECIFICALLY targeted bc of its queer works and yet ppl will still complain every time they ask for donations lmao 

So, again, when AO3 comes back online, please don’t go hard with refreshing all your tabs. Please do remember to download fics you love early and often as  you continue in your whole ~reading journey~. And please do support AO3 through a dono or becoming a donating member, if it is possible for you to do so.
